About nextup
Press Play and a good video starts. Press Next and another one does. That is the whole idea.
Why it exists
nextup is a revival of reddit.tv. People trusted that site because it only played what thousands of voters had already sorted, so they gave every video a real chance. nextup wants to earn the same trust: a Next button that keeps delivering.
One person's collection, for now
Right now nextup is one person's collection. Every video in the stream was picked by Sonny Lans, who runs the site. There are no visitor accounts, no voting and no way to submit videos.
A community part is built in but switched off. If it opens, this page and the terms will be updated before it does.
How the stream works
The videos play from YouTube and Vimeo in their own players. nextup does not host, copy or download them; it keeps the link, a short note and some tags. Nothing loads from YouTube or Vimeo until you press Play.
Each Next picks a video you have not seen on this device. Videos that people tend to keep watching come up more often, with some chance mixed in so the stream stays surprising. The full formula, with every number it uses today, is on How it works.
The number nextup tries to improve is the hit rate: how many of the videos it serves people keep watching for at least 10 seconds. Nobody can pay for a place in the stream, and there are no ads.
Who runs it
nextup is run by Lans IT. Questions, a broken video or a video that should not be here: see Contact.
